Two Franco-American Writers : Dantin and Dion-Lévesque

Both authors wrote in French in early twentieth-century New England. Discussion of Dantin's best-known work, "Les enfances de Fanny," situated in Roxbury, Massachusetts; thoughts on its indifference to "American culture" and to some other themes that predominate other Franco American novels. How the later poetry of Dion-Lévesque, his French translations of Walt Whitman, and his attitudes toward "American culture" compare to the works of Dantin. -

A Study of Textile Mill Closings in Selected New England Communities
