This collection contains records from attempts to create bilingual education programs (now called immersion programs) in a handful of schools in the St. John Valley, including examples of bilingual schools in Canada and other states following the Bilingual Education Act of 1968. The majority of this collection consists of manuscript documents and booklets. The books in question are paperbound and held together by staples rather than the traditional bound books that many people may think of. Many of the manuscripts are held together by accordion-style covers that have a metal clip holding the pages together.
